Zara Lim

Zara trained at the Australian Ballet School (ABS) under the guidance of Irina Konstantinova, Lisa Pavane, Tang Xiuyun and Wang Jiahong. 

 

During her 4 years at ABS, Zara had the privilege to performed in Swan Lake Act II, in Leigh Rowles' Nutcracker, Coppélia and in Morning Melodies. She also had the opportunity to extra with the Australian Ballet.

 

After completing her studies at the ABS, Zara decided to move into Law. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University. Over a 5-year period, she worked as a commercial litigation and intellectual property lawyer at both global and boutique law firms, and also served as an associate to a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

 

In 2021, Zara came full circle and returned to her first love, ballet. As well as teaching at Melbourne Institute of Dance, she currently runs her own adults ballet classes and workshops, as well as 2 other creative side businesses. Zara has completed her teacher training for junior levels under the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet syllabus, based on the Russian Vaganova style of ballet.

 

Zara is passionate about teaching ballet to both adults and children, and brings well-rounded and varied life experience to her teaching! After many years away from ballet, Zara has very muchly rekindled her love for ballet, and now currently takes class twice a week herself. She finds it meditative and believes everybody should be able to participate in ballet!
